Spring is Coming – even though snow is on the ground and more is predicted, eventually spring will get here.  Now is the time to prepare by planning what you want to do to your deck, patio or garden.  At liteandbrite.com, we are putting out new merchandise – wind chimes, bird houses, fountains and other items to enhance your patio or deck.  Ifyou are working in the garden, try Gardner’s Relief Hand Soap and Lotion.  The soap is excellent for removinggrass stains and other hard to clean stains and the lotion makes your hands feel smooth and soft.  Also we have a Strawberry Jar in a lovely shade of green for strawberry plants or succulents such as Hen & Chickens.  Makes a nice conversation piece.  With the birds returning, set them up a new home with one of our birdhouses.  All this and more as new items are added.  Thank you for visiting with us.

Have you tried wine jelly?  It is excellent served on a bagel with cream cheese, on a hot biscuit or on toast, which are just some of the ways you can eat it.  I got started making it through a friend and now it is a hot item when we do a craft show for our church.  Making it is fairly simple.  If you are given a wine that you do not care for when drinking it, make that into jelly.  I found my recipe on the Internet.  It makes a nice gift for a friend or relative at Christmas or any other time of the year. 

Jumping to another subject, is there anyone who can tell me where to buy Chenille Thick and Quick yarn.  The color is called kaleidoscope with black background.  Have searched stores and on the Internet without success.

Recently tried an herbal soap featured on our website, liteandbrite.com, and found it to be very soothing with a great smell.  It is supposed to calm you down and relieve stress but this is a busy time of the year so I am not sure how well that part works.

Every year our church holds a Christmas Craft Show and Bake Sale.  This year it is scheduled for December 4.  Some of the vendors have been coming back for several years.  They claim they like the chili we serve and the company.  We always seem to have a good time plus the fact that our booth rental is only $5.00 which is quite a bargain.  The purpose of the sale is to raise funds for Habitat for Humanity in Louisville.  The Lutheran churches in the area build a house every year in conjunction with Habitat and Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.  Each church is asked to raise funds to help purchase materials and to have volunteers ready to work.  It is a great project and a wonderful experience.   The members of our church make and donate all the items we sell including great baked goods, wine jelly and other ”non-fattening” items.  One vendor makes wonderful bourbon balls and very attractive jewelry, another does handprinted cards, etc.  Lots of variety.  Some people come just to eat lunch.  It is a fun day.

Have you started shopping?  I know the Friday after Thanksgiving is the official opening shopping day for the Christmas season but who wants to face all those crowds.  It is much easier to sit back, check online for gifts and save having to find a parking spot  at a crowded mall.  Personally I am having a hard time getting lists from anyone.  The grandkids are too big for toys and have more clothes than they need.  I did find a multi-purpose shower clock radio for my grandson which helps to get him started in the mornings.  This was a birthday present.  My granddaughter likes music and sports so I am sure there will be something available on one of the many sites.  By the way, does anyone know where to find Lion Brand Yarn Chenille Thick & Quick Prints in the Kaleidoscope Print?  None of the sites I have researched have it in stock.  I can be contacted at pacase4@insightbb.com.

Thanksgiving is just around the corner and it won’t be long until Christmas is here.  If anyone is like me, they hate to shop.  However, by doing it online, life is much easier.  You can shop at 6 am or 12 midnight if you prefer.  There are so many products out there, you are certain to find what you are looking for if it be bath products, gift baskets, candles or special items like Santas or snowmen.  I found a really neat clock for my daughter while researching under Specialty Lamps and Clocks.  It was something she had been wanting for quite a while.  I also located a couple of beautiful candles for the holidays by looking under Candles/Scounces.  It just takes a while to check out the various sites but it is worth it.  So I guess it’s time for me to get back to my shopping.

Being a new operator of a website, it is frustrating to try and upgrade without being clear on exactly what should be done.  I have found that some of the written instructions are fine when you first start out but they certainly do not tell you what to do to get rid of a mistake!  It takes many phone calls with consultants to learn what you did wrong.  I have found that it is better to write down the instructions while on the phone because I certainly cannot remember everything that was said.  Still when a page is redone and comes out looking the way you planned, it is very satisfying.  I am sure there are many people out there who have run into the same situation and would certainly enjoy any comments or advice.  I have my daughter as my partner but she works full time and is a novice on the computer so that does not give much help.  Our site is www.liteandbrite.com and work is still ongoing.
